Ganeshotsav was celebrated in Abu Dhabi by Maharashtra Mandal with full enthusiasm on 15th and 16th September 2007. Shri Ganesh Pratishthapana was done on 15th September morning at a private hall. Around 10 to 12 thousand Indian people from all parts of India - now settled in Abu Dhabi availed “Shri Ganesh Darshan” in the evening. Like every year the decoration for Lord Ganesh was done by Shri. Gajabhau Varadkar and Maharashtra Mandal members. All the members of Maharashtra Mandal Committee took a lot of efforts to make the occasion successful.

Ganesh Visarjan was done on 16th September evening after “Aarati”.

Maharashtra Mandal is a Social Organisation in Abu Dhabi established about 30 years ago when there were less than 50 families as members. Today the Mandal has grown to over 500 families. The Mandal conducts various social and cultural events through out the year. Hence Maharashrian Mandali settled in Abu Dhabi come together to enjoy the same happiness and atmosphere of various celebrations that take place in India. Major events celebrated by the Mandal includes – Independence day, Maharashtra Din, Ganeshtotsav, Garba in Navratri days, Kojagiri Pournima, Diwali etc. The Mandal arranges various entertainment programs with famous celebrities coming from India. On the occasion of Ganeshotsav various events are arranged such as – Games and competitions for children and elders. Because of the presence of Mandal, people enjoy social and cultural activities and don’t feel the loneliness of being away from our homeland.
